Coach Tijmen Egtberts was born and raised in The Netherlands. He started playing competitive water polo at the age of 8. His talent got recognized at Santa Rosa Junior College where he played for two years and was added to the coaching staff for one year as well. Tijmen continued his education at Concordia University where he played water polo for one year and was Senior Captain of the swim team his final year. He graduated in 2016 with a Bachelor’s degree in sports management. He also has a Master’s degree in coaching and athletic administration. As a coach, Tijmen has 12 years of experience and in 2017 he coached a 10U team that won the gold division at NJO’s, in 2019 his team got 3rd place and in 2021 Tijmen coached both 10u girls and 10u mixed to become national champions. That was the first time in usa waterpolo history two teams from the same club won JOs at the 10u level.
Meet Coach Helia, a UCI Biological Sciences major and swimming enthusiast! With over 10 years of experience in the pool, Coach Helia has been sharing her passion for the sport with the next generation of young swimmers. She joined Northpark Riptide in 2013 and competed for Beckman High School, honing her skills and developing a love for the sport that she still holds dear.
Since 2019, Coach Helia has been coaching and inspiring the next generation of swimmers. As the Assistant Head Coach for Northpark Riptide and Coach for the Patriots, her goal is not just to help her young athletes improve their skills, but to also instill the values of self-discipline and good sportsmanship in them. Coach Helia believes in building strong relationships with her swimmers and their parents and takes great joy in seeing her athletes grow and succeed. With a passion for the sport and a commitment to her young swimmers, Coach Helia is the perfect coach for families looking to provide a fun and supportive environment for their kids to learn to swim.

Her journey started as a toddler and has taken her from being a member of USA swim teams in Orange County and Chicago, to captaining her varsity swim team in high school. With over 10 years of coaching experience, Coach Amanda has been inspiring young swimmers in Irvine as a USA swim coach since 2014. She holds a degree in Geography from CSUF and also works as a Para-educator for K-12.
But Coach Amanda’s love for the sport goes beyond just coaching, she is also a proud swim parent. Her daughter Camila swims for Patriot Swim Club, so she knows firsthand the thrill and challenges of the sport. As the Head Coach of the white team, Coach Amanda brings her wealth of experience, dedication and infectious energy to the pool every day.

Meet Coach Nacinda, the Head Coach of the Red Group and a true swim star!
Coach Nacinda was born and raised in The Netherlands. She comes from a family of athletes: her mom played basketball on the national team and her dad was a cyclist, runner, and a soccer player. She has been swimming competitively since she was 5 years old and made it to Dutch Nationals several times. Her family was part of creating their own club back in 2009 and it grew out to be one of the best swim teams The Netherlands currently has. In 2014, she came to the US where she competed for OCC. She won the State Championships with her team in 2016. Here she also got 3rd place in both the 100 and 200 breaststroke. She completed her swimming career at Concordia University Irvine on a scholarship Concordia on swim scholarship where she briefly held the school record in the 100 IM. Academically she isn’t sitting still either. Coach Nacinda has her BA in Business Data Analytics and an MBA in Marketing. She’s currently at Pepperdine University working on her Master’s in Clinical Psychology. Her coaching career started at the Deerfield Bluefins where she has been on the coaches staff since 2017. She joined Patriot Aquatics in 2019 and loves to pass the enjoyment for swim and competing to the young ones!
Tailored swim lessons for kids ages 4 till 10. ABC Swim Lessons are specifically designed for kids that do not know how to swim yet, and are heavily focussed on water safety. Upon completing each level, the child wil receive a certificate. Kids will start in skill level A and move all the way to skill level C which at that point will be more than ready for our Blue Group swim team.
Patriot Age Group Swimming is for athletes ages 5 – 18 who are interested in learning how to swim or improve their swimming abilities. We will also host bi-monthly swim trials with a focus on individual improvement and fun competition.
Multiple swim instructors are on deck each practice and we also offer private swim lessons with instructors in the water.
Practice Times: Monday – Friday:
Senior Group: 3:30 PM – 5:00 PM

For athletes of all ages who would like to learn how to swim. Swim lessons are one-on-one with a coach in the water with the goal of helping each athlete get acquainted with the water and learn the basics of swimming.
